Obviously this is at 600mm cropped to get the image scale.

Very much so, so far far away. I would normally use 3,000mm or more, but wanted to see how well this lens performed.

Thanks Europa and bwana. I have been sky challenged here in Galveston, making it impossible to drag out my C11, so I have been limited to a mere camera lens.

Looks good!
You done well!

I came to the conclusion the telescope was merely the lens.
Once I boiled things down to that, well, it was gravy.

I use an ED80-T Orion telescope to go to deep space. A Refractor telescope, simple and about as lens like as can be.
Now, if I could get my other complications working right, I'd be back in the soup and cussing clouds again.

Thanks Tom,
I need to pull up my exif data, cause I don't remember. The night was pretty steady, which is crucial to getting any detail in a single shot. I usually set the ISO to 800-1600, maybe a little more, then I really concentrate on focus. Then my f stop might be around f5-11 and shutter speed adjusted to the f stop
I play with the settings to get the brightness high enough to not blow out the planet and rings or moons. I will check the settings when I get off work and let you know.

Ty Alberio,
I appreciate your help!
I’ve done lots of “regular and underwater” photography but really my first venture into astroimaging.
I have an astrophysics “Traveller” scope 105mm at f/6 with lots of televue eyepieces, a 1.8 Barlow and a Nikon d 500 with lots of Nikon lenses, longest is a Nikon 200-400 mm zoom used for wildlife.
Also a Lunt 60 mm solar scope with 50 mm external etalon.
Want to start slow with single shot images of planets and sun.
Will need advice about post processing... photoshop scares the heck out of me, so many variations, monthly fees etc.
? Lightroom??
Printer is great Epson P 600.. love it.
Good equip but lack of knowledge. Not even thinking of DEep Sky Imaging, too much post processing and haven’t bought a German equatorial Mount, using a Gitzo carbon fiber tripod, sturdy and light for grab and go.
Brother, I need your help!
Thanks,
Doctp

I’m surprised at 1600 ISO, would have thought much lower.

Europa, keeps my shutter speed pretty fast. I also use an old Sampson QuickSet video tripod to help things very steady. I've found I can deal with the noise from this camera pretty well up to 3200.

Very nice, reminds me of some I took earlier this year with my T6 & T4i with my Tamron 18-400mm.
