Does anyone have a suggestion for an off brand remote for The d500. I went to Adorama and had no luck.

I use a Vello Free Wave I purchased from B&H for my Canon.
It's wireless and you don't have to aim an infrared remote at the sensor in the front of the camera.
It works well.

Looked this up for a friend - as far as I can tell the only option right now is the new ML- 3 expensive. A variety here, possibly one of the less expensive ones will work. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=nikon%20d500%20remote%20shutter%20release&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ma&Top+Nav-Search=

Thanks for the responses. I had looked at the Vello when I bought the d500, but couldn't remember the name.

Some prefer this model that has better range and not infrared. Disappeared for awhile, but it's coming back.

Pixel Pro TW-283 DC0/DC2 Wireless Timer Remote Control Shutter Release for Nikon RF not IR! $27 to $45 on Amazon / Ebay /etc. Do check B&H and Adorama as well. There might be other cord tips other than DC0/DC2 for your D500. You just have to check specs on manufacturer's site. Mine is an E3 for Canon / Pentax / Fuji, but other models cords can be used on the Pentax and Fuji (that I actually have). Some models of Canon use a different connector tip. My Pentax and Fuji cameras have both a 3 contact mini phono jack and a tiny USB jack that can both be used. No idea about Canon or Nikon.

It's too bad that Nikon changed the remote for the D500. I've used the same little remotes (Nikon and generic) on various Nikon DSLRs for years.

Yongnuo makes several reasonably priced models but their manuals are worthless. I found YouTube video to set mine up. The range for radio transceivers is phenomenal and no need for line of sight.

I have a Pixel T9 purchased from Amazon for $32.00 that works with all my Nikon bodies. It is wireless and functions from any angle or position around the camera. Has more functions than I use.
