Two Dimensional World ...

...repeated to...
A while back I did some shots of the reflections in the mirrored windows of the Kaiser Hospital Complex in Riverside, CA with a pocket P&S from the 4th floor.
I went to an ENT apt on Sat on the 5th floor and took my 5DIV and 24-105 lens. I shot from about 4 different places in Bld 2 and the connector structure on the east side of the 'U' formed by the hospital, bld 1 and bld 2.
I cropped so that nothing but the south side windows of the hospital/bld 1 shows. So everything you see here is in two dimensions only.

I will do some of the other shots later but this one was the first shot.

Not sure I follow your protocol having never been to those buildings. But I love the resultant image. It might be too abstract for some but I love it. I can think of a couple other interesting buildings that act as mirrors. One the main Los Angeles Police Department Headquarters in downtown Los Angeles, and Hyatt Regency at the Rainbow Lagoon, Long Beach.

Yes there are a lot.

My father worked for Eastern Airlines in the 60s and 70s at Lambert Field in St Louis. A couple of the first big buildings with the mirrored glass sides went up along the river near the airport. They very quickly got screaming protests from pilots landing (not so much on takeoff) at Lambert at certain times during certain times of day and the year.
The reflections were blinding them. They came up with a coating/film that diffused and redirected the reflections and after that the glass panels came from the factory that way.
But that has problems also. I have seen some articles about cities where several of those mirrored building in a small area reflected the sun back and forth and downward into the streets creating a giant "solar cooker". Damaged eyes, surveillance cameras, paint and plastic on buildings and cars etc. It also raised the temperature in the area by quite a bit.

If you ever go to Riverside the Kaiser Medical Center is on Magnolia at La Sierra. More or less a square tilted 45 degrees since Magnolia runs SW to NE. The main hospital, Office Building #1, Office Building #2 and a NW to SE oriented structure that connects the three into a series of 2 'U's on each side. The buildings are 5 stories high with a partial 6th floor with machinery and maintenance rooms. Some of the 'U's are ground level some are lower buildings.

I look for what I think was the essence of what the photographer intended. Here, it's the 2 Dimensional world of mirror-like window walls. So, I cropped out the things that did not seem to help, like Michelangelo took away the stone that didn't belong.

Actually I cropped it right to the edge of the mirrored windows, everything in that image, except my mark, is in two dimensions. There are no walls except reflections.

Here is the OOC image. First I leveled the building lines and then I cropped.

Mirror like reflections and geometry of the fencing make for an interesting photo. Nicely done.

Thank you.
Actually that is the safety parapet on a 1.5 story section filling in the 'U' between the 5 story wings. That grid pattern is the framing of each sheet of mirrored window glass.

As much as I admire good photos of buildings, and I find yours intriguing, I have my failings, and this makes me feel like I'm in a cage in an enclosure in a city. All I want to do is escape. Which says nothing about your photography, only my personality.

I understand.
Try spending your work day locked in a room of 20-40 teenagers for 34 or 35 years.

This one I put up a while back gives the impression it is a glass fence with open space on the other side, a much more open feeling.

The thing is that there is another 'U' shaped area with a one story filler on the other side, just a whole building in between. But not in this image.

No criticism AT ALL of your photos, just my gut-level feedback. I like the colors, the reflections, the patterns. There's nothing I would do differently. But I want to flee.

Yes I understand that, I mostly grew up in small town Western Kentucky and a lot of time on my Grandparent's farm.
