Full disclosure: Roberts is my local b&m store so they know me there, but they would do this for anyone.
I posted a while back about a Nikkor 70-300 AF-P VR lens. The lens mount broke and I sent it to Nikon (actually, Roberts did that as well) and got back the right lens as far as anyone could tell because it was the correct serial number. However, it was not a VR lens! I paid for VR and thought I had gotten a VR lens, but maybe not as the lens mount broke early on. Long story short, the folks at Roberts took care of everything for me with Nikon (yes, I did buy the lens from Roberts in the first place) and I now have back a lens with the same serial number AND VR! This will be a well used lens until I reach the Nirvana of a 70-200 f/2.8.
The moral of the story is you can buy from Roberts Camera with total confidence.

There are still some honest shops out there!
Ben, Thanks for the information, they sound like a great place to purchase equipment!
Yes indeed, I have shopped at Roberts many times and they are great.

They are. You get Mom & Pop service and B&H pricing. Best of both worlds.
A few years ago I ordered a used film camera (a Canon FTb) online from Roberts, and to my surprise, they added in the package a whole bunch of accessories to go with the camera, all for free, including a flash unit and several lenses! Very generous. I couldn't thank them enough. If that isn't classic "Mom & Pop service", I don't know what is!
Have used Roberts Camera for years, and they are fantastic.

Ben,
Not quite sure what you are saying. Was the original lens mislabeled as a VR or just that the VR wasn't working. Did you end up with a different lens, with the same serial number, or the original lens with the VR working.
Two different lenses with the same serial number sounds a bit fishy to me.

Phil, the original lens was not marked VR, but the box said VR and I assumed it was correct. It was not until after the mount repair that I realized it was not VR.
The bottom line is no one seems to understand how this situation is possible, although someone did say the serial numbers are on stickers. Maybe they put the same number on a different lens. I’m just grateful I had the folks at Roberts backing up my assertion that I did pay for a VR lens.
BTW, if you shoot DX and can’t (yet) pull the trigger on an f/2.8, this is not a bad lens for the price. I’ll post a few images soon.

I had the opportunity to visit their downtown store a couple of days ago ... only buying a few small things but everyone I talked to was extremely helpful and seemed to appreciate the time I took to visit ... Roxanne is a real sweetheart and Bruce went out of his way to be helpful ... look forward to going back next year...!

Yes, Robert's is on my recommended list.
Yep! They are good folks at Roberts.
I’ve made a couple of purchases from them too, and they are very good. My last purchase was a Tamron 150-600 G2, it was in pristine condition. If they didn’t say it was used, I would have easily thought it was new.
