It used to be interesting, but now it's difficult to find anything worth reading any more. The main page is flooded with dirtpusher's crap for years now, and everyone else posting are left wing pundits. Is it fun to talk amongst yourselves any more? You've driven away any decent folks who want to discourse...because that is all that I see is left on this site.

The attic is mostly filled with insults (and you're right about Dirtpusher's crap - it seems to be omnipresent, fortunately most of his posts go unanswered.). There are a few people who actually discuss politics in a reasonable manner but they are in the minority, NY Shooter, Frum California, Soba, Let Me Dance, USN Pilot, and forgive me for not mentioning others.

I often leave this forum for periods of time for the same reasons you give, but then I get curious and check in again. I actually learn a thing or two every so often which makes it minimally worthwhile. It suffers from Internet anonymity where people feel free to say the most insulting things because no one knows who they are. Only a couple people use their real names or give their personal websites. It would be a lot different if everybody was in the same room talking face to face. Then you would see which people were truly brave or bluffing!

Your strategy makes a lot of sense. Sorry I didn't mention you on my list of "normal" contributors, but you belong there too. I know that almost no lefties will change their minds here, but it doesn't hurt to at least let them know the t***h. They may never hear it anywhere else. Besides, it brushes up my knowledge about things and helps my rhetorical sk**ls when dealing with people in real life who espouse these nonsensical beliefs.

There comes a point in dealing with lefties where the conversation just isn't going anywhere but in the toilet, so I simply stop responding. I never stop responding because of an honest challenge, as so many lefties do.

With the Dirtman, I don't even get started. I just ignore everything he posts or writes. I tried talking to him honestly and in good faith on many occasions, but I learned a long time ago that he is just a complete dead end. The guy doesn't seem to have any life outside of pestering people on this website. I'm very sorry that he has returned.

Yes Sir, You are correct.
One can leave the site for a week or more just to come back to find that nothing has changed.
The liberals are so deep in their trenches doing what their newsmaker commanders instruct them to do.
They have evicted God from their lives so that they have nobody to answer to for their deeds.
They have declared war on our Constitution because it tells them what they cannot do which drives them bonkers.
When I remind them that God himself gave us our rights and documented them in our Constitution, they completely disappear from the conversation.

I do not use my name on public sites as I don't fully trust those who control security clearances in the domain where I work. But you can be assured that I don't speak any differently in person.

I appreciate all of you who aren't afraid to speak the t***h and defending the foundation of our Great God Given Country with me and help to eradicate the evil that works so diligently to tear it down.

I’m glad Dirt is ok but not glad he’s back. I like reading opposing viewpoints but his posts are mostly trash. If he were a rightie I wouldn’t want to see a bunch of spam from fringe right sources either.

A few lefties make some good thoughtful posts -Kmgw9v, Bazbo, Frosty and some whose names escape me at the moment. They are often unfairly goaded.

I agree with most of what you said here. However, by the names you listed, it seems you think only conservatives want to discuss politics in a reasonable manner. I really have to disagree with that. There are people on both sides that want to have reasonable political discussions but are prevented by those that are only here to hurl insults.

I, like you, leave for awhile because it seems I can’t have a reasonable discussion without someone interrupting with insults etc., but I always come back out of curiosity. I used to have some good discussion with Blurry, but things changed. I miss that.
