Mt. Denali
A few shots of the mountain taken in July. Camped at Wonder Lake for 2 nights at the end of the 17 day trip.
Wonder Lake camp ground is located at mile 85 in Denali NP. It is directly North of the mountain with the McKinley river in between. The North summit is in the foreground right but is not the highest. The true summit is the South summit which is entirely snow covered from these northern views and is left of the North.
Double download for best view.
Thanks to all for the comments. It was a great experience. Very warm conditions. Late the next afternoon it rained over an inch and I missed the lightning show trapped in the tent. Heard it was great from those huddled under the food shelter - it looked good from inside the tent.
Nice! Hoping get clear view in 2 weeks when there....
What a view...
The first two are interesting especially after downloading and cropping to let these old eyes see the detail. I even looked for specks of color from folks summiting - just one pixel would be fun. The popular West Buttress route starts on the far side of the mountain and takes them up via the right side of the peak.
Very nice! You were very fortunate to have clear views of the summit--it is most often obscured by clouds.
Beautiful pictures!! The summit is clear and picture is excellent.
Really nice. We don’t usually get that view of The Mountain, as we up here refer to Denali. Thanks for sharing your adventure.
Just so folks coming up here are aware, we recently had a massive windstorm that set off several wildfires and the air is filled with smoke. Currently the Parks Hwy is partially closed at MP 70 due to fire and smoke, and the Alaska Railroad has temporarily suspended all operations for passenger trains between Anchorage and Fairbanks. Just a heads up.
Very nice set. The first two are beautiful. Denali is still on my bucket list. Your photos just pushed it up higher on my list.
