Finally was able to capture an eagle diving and catching a fish! Was in our boat using the Nikon D500 with the tamron 150-600 lens...1/800, f6.3, 600 mm, iso 400.

Any pointers on getting sharper images would be appreciated... I am usually in the fishing boat (I'm supposed to be fishing instead of watching for birds....lol....per the husband!!) I did edit them in LR and the Topaz Denoise program.

Sorta of...it was 9 am but foggy with the fog just above the water. What settings on the camera would you have used or adjustments in post would you do? If I adjust the exposure in LR then the whites of the eagle get blown out.

Great shots! I'm interested in reading others replies. BIF can be difficult, but I like these.

Thank you...BIF are sooo hard for me...but I think I make it even harder by 95% of the time I am in our fishing boat. But that's where I see the eagles and osprey fishing.

I think I would have used 1/1250 as a shutter speed ISO 500 .....and be a little under exposed to preserve the whites and bring the shadows up in post. I would take some blue out of the midtones to warm up the color balance and add a bit of saturation.

So I didn't have my shutter speed high enough and by bringing up the ISO...that would have allowed more light. I will play more in LR and see if I can figure out how to take some blue out of the midtones....not sure how to do that yet!

Thanks

Edit......by editing the midtones....are you talking about using the curves edit in LR - more like this edit? Or even lighter?

I do not have or use LR - I use an older Elements - so Adobe changed a LOT of things in later LR compared to Elements - so it is really completely different than earlier Elements as far as exactly what nomenclature "sliders" you use ect. IMO, LR has become very complicated vs older Elements. But, you should be able to figure it out if you keep trying ! Blue in the midtones SHOULD be under enhance/adjust color/color variations - select "midtones" - as it is in Elements .....but it may NOT be ......

Good series, Cindy! In LR you have a couple of other ways to address color issues. One of them is in the Basic module where you have a couple of temp sliders. Another is in the HSL module.
