We will be traveling to FL from MN in March. I am hoping to spend time in Tennessee. Where do I go? Do you have a favorite spot that is fun to photograph? I have been to the airport, which is the sum total of my experiences in Tennessee. Thanks.

Have done it elsewhere and am a Tennessee Whiskey enthusiast, first thing that came to mind, a distillery tour.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Also Asheville, NC since you are in the 'neighborhood.'

And the pictures just get better and better as the tour progresses.....

...until you look at them the next day and wonder why you thought five pictures of dry dog poo would be a great and salable idea.

I am looking forward to mountains! I have spent time in VT, but have missed mountains for a while. Thank you. Added to the list.

You speak as though there is only one airport in Tennessee...

Tennessee is a very photogenic place, especially in the east, especially in the autumn. I've been on several journeys thru TN and NC, mostly on a motorcycle but a couple of times by automobile. As I said, eastern TN is the nicest part of the state. The Nashville area in central TN has a whole lot to offer and you could spend a lot of time just checking out the music industry related sites and the restaurants and taverns. Memphis is a gem in Western TN, a beautiful and charming city if you check out the right places at the right time. Chattanooga is a really nice place to visit also. If you like historic railroads, TN has them. Things to see above ground and under ground as well. There's a whole lot to see and do in TN, and you are far better off contacting the TN Dept of tourism and having them supply all the info you could possibly need. Enjoy your trip.

On your way home after driving through Nashville Tennessee, which also has lots to see and do, such as the Country Music Hall of Fame, you could drive up I-65 and stop at the Corvette factory and adjacent Museum in Bowling Green Kentucky and take the tours. You need to call ahead and set up the factory tour, but it was totally worth the time and you should get some very cool photos. One other thing to do in Nashville is going to the Honky Tonk Bars and listening to live music from some very talented musicians. It is an experience unlike any others.

While you are there the Blue Ridge Parkway is photogenic, mostly in NC and VA though, but hey, you are retired, what is another couple hundred miles?

Tenn. like many other eastern states in March can be a bit dreary, gray and wet. Please be prepared for that otherwise you'll come away with a bad image of what is a very pretty state. You might want to consider the town of Pigeon Forge. Just driving through should put a smile on your face. It is a Tenn. gateway to The Great Smokey Mountains and also the location of "Dollywood".

Jack Daniels distillery. If you can imagine a hillbilly our guide was perfect. No sample though. The distillery is in a dry county. Also the Grand Old Opera and the Opryland Hotel nearby. Beautiful gardens.
