KEH and B&H have been great in my dealings with them. No hesitation using them.

I've decided to sell all my Nikon to KEH except for my D850 and 5 prime lenses. And will get the Sony A7iii and a couple of primes. I'm thinking of trying the system for a few months and then just sell off the rest of my Nikons and spend that on more glass. At 72 I just feel this is the way to go. And I believe that mirrorless is the foreseeable future. Plus my Granddaughter is using mirrorless and she wants nothing to do with DSLRs. I'm sure I will be taking a loss as opposed to selling private but I've got 30 something items and I just don't look forward to selling private from past experience. Does anyone have experience dealing with KEH? They seem like a good company to deal with

I've had a Sony A7R, A7 II (terrible low light performance) and A7R II. I now have an A7S and A7 III as well as a RX10 III & IV.

I love the A7 III. Its 24 MP hits my sweet spot for resolution and low light performance. The A7R II had great resolution and low light performance BUT its resolution (42 MP) and large file size was simply more than I needed.

The RX10 IV has become my grab 'n go camera with the A7 III being my specialty camera.

I'd take a serious look at adapting your Nikon lenses to the A7 III. I adapt my Canon and Pentax lenses to Sony bodies with good sucess.

Give this decision considerable thought before jumping to mirrorless.

I have been reducing my overstock of camera stuff, and have found this: KEH provides a quick online estimate and pays OK. MBP can't provide as many online quotes but in some cases pays a lot more. From MBP you get money quicker, as they offer to do direct deposit, KEH offers trade in or check in the mail.

No company is going to give you much as they have to make a profit and still undercut the competition.

Why a Sony A7iii and not the new A7Riv (61MP !)?

I used MSP to sell some older Canon gear. They were fair fast and efficient. They send prepaid label.

I agree. If you have questions, then it ain't right. Be careful about getting hung up on equipment. The Sony will NOT make you a better photographer. Only YOU will make yourself a better photographer.

I have used KEH multiple times, to buy and sell. Very happy with selection and service. Although the buy price is lower than if you sold direct, their buy prices are generally higher than some of the other sites. If you sign up to receive their emails, they run many promotions.

KEH is fine to do business with, but you will take a beating on price - you’ll get maybe 50-60% of what you can sell it for, but the convenience may be worth it to you

That statement is unfair. KEH isn't a charity, they're in business to make money. Ergo, they buy wholesale and sell retail. I think their selling prices are very fair, and no one ever thinks someone's buying price is too high.

Yes, you are right, you are paying for convenience. Some of us can consider how much our time is worth.

If one checks the actual domestic sales (of your items) on eBay, subtract the eBay fee, subtract the PayPal fee, subtract your actual shipping cost, shipping supplies, time to shot photos of your items, and etc., the real price difference between letting KEH buy my equipment was only a nominal difference of only 10-20%. Not even worth it when I had a day job and certainly not worth my “retired” life style doing photography.

I have an extensive Nikon DSLR system. Including about 25 lenses, half of which are autofocus and half manual focus AI lenses. I also have a smaller, but still extensive Fujifilm X series mirrorless system. I don’t feel the need to give up one for the other. I use each of these systems for different purposes. I use the Nikon system when I need or want a big sensor, and in the studio. I use the Fuji mainly for travel. I believe in using the tool for the job that makes sense. Not making the situation fit the tool. Heck, I still shoot film too. I use a Nikon F4 and a Nikon FG for 35mm. And, I use a Pentax 67 and a Yashica TLR for medium format.

Whenever you sell goods to a company that is going to resell the item. 50% of the expected selling price is what you should expect to be paid. This is not only true of KEH but also pawnshops etc. that generally is the most that they can pay you and still make enough of a profit to make it worth their while.

I'm not sure I want to deal with huge files like the 61mp. Too much time and effort on a computer. 24 Mp and even 45mp seems about right to me. Thanks for the info.

From what I've heard, KEH is excellent. Lighten the load baby....as I get older, smaller & lighter looks better & better.

You are absolutely correct sir. That's exactly why I'm changing. I'm downsizing everything. House.....cameras everything .
