IC 1318 Gamma Cygni Nebula

The bright star(y Cyg) near the center is not part of the nebula, but is between us and the nebula.

The star was very, very overblown in my image, maybe 6-7x larger, but thanks to the magic of PS, I tamed it back to not overpower the rest of the image.

It's great, Brian!

Just amazes me how these nebula show and how incredibly huge they are.

Were you using any filters (like an HA7nm or such?)?

Hi Sonny, yes I was using the Baader Ha and O-III made for the RASA. These things are amazing from light polluted skies! And yes, very large. The RASA is only 620mm FL. I bought these a year or so ago, just getting around to trying them out. I still have a collimation issue with the RASA. I may have to have Celestron do it. But they have a hefty price at $420 to do it. I’ve gotten it somewhat close, I’ll give it another attempt before I make the trip to Celestron.

Another great job Brian. Which tool in PS did you use to get the y Cyg under control?

Hey Craig. I masked put all of the stars, used the clone tool, then brought the stars back in. Only allowing the bright one to barely show thru.
