Alligator photos are so boring! I decided to try something creative. Thus as Friday's Tropical Depression or heavy rains hit south Florida I ventured out to the Everglades to get a creative Gator photo.

This is the result. In the torrential downpour I photographed this gator lurking in the rain and searching for his next meal. So what do you feel about this photo? Did I achieve my goal?

Fabulous capture has a real forbidding look to it.

Excellent photo. It holds the viewers eye.

Very nice. A little dark on my monitor but it doesn't detract from the image.

Really glad to hear that. I thought the eye really helps attract the viewer.
Thanks

Thank you. Everything seems to look darker on UHH. It is brighter on my monitor.

You achieved your goal in my opinion, Larry. The eye of the gator captures the viewers attention and holds it. Made me wonder what he was looking at. The circular patterns around the gator frame him nicely. The blending colors of the gator and surrounding environment show the importance of stealth to the gator’s survival. Well done.

I love this one. It is a pleasant change from a gator laying in the sun which is what I mostly see. The dark foreboding water and the turbulence go perfectly with the gator which is clearly visible.

Thank you. I was really trying to break the pattern if usual gator shots. I'm really happy a "gator photographer" approves.

BINGO!!!
You found all the things I tried to accomplish! Believe it or not, the hardest part (even in a downpour) was getting enough raindrops around the gator to cover the water surface.
Thanks for looking.

There needs to be a law that says Gators CANNOT be photographed on grass!! They do not live on the grass!!

Thank you! I quite pleased that you found this a "pleasant change". As photographers we are supposed to show the world in ways others don't usually see it. My goal was to do exactly that! Thanks for letting me know it worked.
