It is possible that while you were walking around somewhere, you accidently hit the shutter button and ended up with a photo as described. I have done this a number of times with my camera.

It’s most likely that you tripped the shutter inadvertently somewhere along the way.

Also a brand new camera does not have a card in it.

You admitted the SD card was yours before you purchased the camera so obviously you or someone else took the shot but I really enjoyed all the opinions, banter and humor you brought out of the hogs. My advice: Forget about it!

A really strange thing happened to me the other day. I was out shooting with my Nikon D-7200. I bought it a couple of months ago, brand new. When I took out the sd card to download to my computer an image of a total stranger was among the shots I had on the card. The thing is no one but me has ever used this camera but me. Could someone have hacked my camera since it does have wifi? Of course the wifi is not turned on while shooting. Could the seller have used an sd card that had been used? Anyway I was wondering if this has ever happened to anyone on this forum before.

Look at the data for the picture and get the date it was taken. Have you asked your family who might have borrowed the camera without your knowledge? Oh-Oh !?!?

Wonder if it was demonstrated in the store to a potential buyer, the potential buyer ultimately didn't buy the camera and the rep forgot to take out the SD card. How many actuations are on the camera? B&H being highly reputable, did you contact them? If not, I would and ask them about it! Good luck.

Any chance someone is playing a trick on you? Years ago at a sky diving center that I used to jump at there were 2 female tourists from Holland who stopped in to make their first jump. When they got in the plane to go up one of them left her camera on a table in the hanger. The plane had no more then taxied out when somebody grabbed her camera and the rest of us lined up. When she got home and got the film developed she would have been greeted by about 10 "full moons" pointed at the camera. Always wondered what her reaction was!

Many years ago when at a motorcycle rally with camping a friend left her camera sitting and unknown to her I picked it up. There were about 6 spot-a-pots and i took pics of all the insides. Her mother picked up the prints for her and got quite a shock and my friend had a good laugh.

If you still had the pic available that would have been a good idea.
