Linda's not gone; she's just not here.
She and I exchanged a couple of pm's a few weeks ago, and she informed me she'd be leaving, and briefly her reasons why. She asked me not to say anything about it, so I didn't and I won't.
I, for one, will always wish her well.

She had sent me a Private Message telling me she was leaving just prior to her public announcement because I was the likely winner of a post processing challenge she was responsible for, and wanted to give me a heads up. When I asked, she gave me several reasons why she was leaving, but I just decided I don't feel comfortable divulging them here. Generally though, she was a bit overwhelmed and needed a break.
If those of you I know and regularly converse with want to PM me, I will share the specific reasons she gave me. I just ask that you don't repost them.

On Tuesday I thanked the folks who posted to mwsilvers' topic. Please know I'm greatly appreciative of those - and now these - wonderful comments!
I also didn't anticipate the curiosity that would be generated by my not providing a "why." I apologize for that. It's a mix of UHH burnout (80,000 comments in 6+ years), health, and frustrations over how much of this site is devoted to incivility and other bad behavior, as well as how much is simply snapshot sharing. Only a tiny percent of active users here are interested in thoughtful discussion or teaching.
