Working with new Scrim

Saw some reviews on Heavy weight Savage Scrim defuser paper/plastic. I was having some problems with my other material showing wrinkles. This material is smooth and heavy, should last if I'm careful. Made the frame out of a DIY window screen frame.

That is a great product shot.

If I may ask how did you tilt the bottle?

Thanks for asking.
This was shot in our front bedroom that has a ceiling fan and light kit. I have a small table I set under the fan, attached fishing line to the light kit and down to the bottle. I got the angle as I shortened the line. Took the fishing line out using Photoshop.

It looks great!

Thank you for explaining the technique.

Is that bottle round or more rectangular? Sounds like a silly question but there is a reason having to do with perspective and technique.

It's an oval shape.

When shooting a product in an oval or round jar or container, sometimes it best to use a lens or zoom setting of a shorter focal length than usually used for product work. Not a full blown wide angle, but slightly shorter than normal focal length . Getting in closer allows you to see the sides or around the product.

This has to do with product identification in advertising- making the shape of the unit immediately recognizable to the consumer, especially when the packaging is unique as the one is. Perhaps a slight turning of the product to emphasize the shape and to feature the unique cap.

The oval shape is very apparent in the mirror image- I like that.

Nice reddition of the black container. I wonder what woud happen if you let the background go darker and outline the bottle with a rim light from the back/side.

Good job!

Thanks so much for stoping by and your information. I didn't realize a shorter lens would give me the ability to see the sides better. On my first set up I like how it looked as I came in from the left side a bit more. I was happy till I realized the type was getting distorted because of the curve of the bottle and I couldn't read it clearly, had the impression it was out of focus.
I did get some shots with a black background but didn't try a rim light technique. I tried light coming from both left and right but didn't like the amount of contrast between the two blacks. I always like getting feed back from you. I keep your suggestions front and center when starting another difficult project. Next time I will be testing a wider lens to check out the differences.🤔
