This completely unedited raw file conversion is of a small section of Lake Watauga, including the Watauga Dam, in eastern Tennessee. It was captured on a cloudy/drizzly early evening in late June. Its a bit of a challenge but there is a lot of shadow detail that can be pulled out of it. The Watauga Dam is straight across the water between the peaks. There are some visual distractions such as the utility pole and wire, as well as several others. After the voting is complete and a winner chosen I will post my own edited version.
Download the image and edit in any way you wish, then submit your result to this thread. You may post a maximum of two edits. For this week's challenge, voting won't begin until August 8. The winner will host the challenge that begins the week of August 11. Have fun!
I have been thinking about Linda, and so have coaxed this in a playful direction.
This is just the sort of shot I would have enjoyed taking.
.
Thought I would give this a try. It is a lovely spot.
My edit was to give it a tranquil look.
a very serene scene. I simplified by removing some of the 'distractions along the shore line, doc, lamppost and altered the lighting, to enhance the serenity. Very nice photograph.....
As I looked, I thought of the mountains, a river valley carving them and carrying rocks over eons, mankind building a mighty dam, puny in comparison and in time with nature.
It's all about the gentle curve of the shoreline, the wonderful colors in the water and reading the photograph from left to right.
Very nice image - it's fun to let your imagination loose.
After I submitted my image I converted to b/w so may as well put it in.

I too! A b&w version seemed to be needed.
Here's my version. I didn't do much: a bit of contrast, some dodge and burn, a bit of detail extraction in NIK. Then I tried to get rid of the power pole and wire. Didn't do it well, I'm afraid. And there appears to be a slight curvature in the horizon. Couldn't get rid of that either.
