The location is called Mountain Lake. We used to go there every summer, but haven't been there in years. It's an old resort hotel on top of a mountain. There used to be a lake there, good fishing, but the lake has disappeared. There should be plenty of photo ops in the general area.

Breaking News, the lake is refilling and quite nicely I may say, depending on what you want to shoot, you should find this an interesting place. As MDI Mainer stated, Cascade Falls is beautiful also.

Lake Lure may have had scenes filmed there, but the Mountain Lake Hotel was used for a lot of the scenes. I've never been closer to Lake Lure than to ride by and over it on the train and never seen the movie, so I can't give an opinion as to what may have been filmed at Lake Lure.

If you have the time drive to the Town of Paint Bank. Its about 35 miles away on Rt 311. There is a Very unique restaurant there called The Swinging bridge Restaurant. And its a GREAT photo op. A old mill, train caboose hotel, large buffalo farm... And the food is great...Enjoy your trip
