A couple of nights ago, I was at a local pond watching and trying to photograph barn swallows skimming and catching bugs, when this pair of kingfishers flew in and started "playing" in the water. If you look closely in the second one, you can see the head of one just about to come out of the water as the other flies over the splash.

They're so fast ... I've struggled trying to capture them in flight ... so I think these are nice captures. Thanks for sharing.

Amazing captures! Yesterday I observed a king fisher repeatedly splashing on the surface of the pond but it didn't appear to be diving deep enough to be fishing. No pictures, I had my 7 month old granddaughter in my arms and no camera. I was wondering what it was doing.

Very nice shots; #1 has it all. Nice detail of the bird, terrific water splash detail, nice reflection. Congrats on your shots.
