Hi to all my sports shooting brothers and sisters. I was sitting here with my first cup of coffee and was just wondering what we are all doing waiting for sports to start again. Please reply as I really would like to know. I don't like to wish my life away but come on high schools get started so sports will start. Thanks guys and girls.

Hi Tom,

I have been going to Our Local High School trying to capture some photos of our Youth working on Summer conditioning. Football, Basketball, Baseball Kids, and High School Band Camp.

July 29th here in West Central Florida Our kid's go into Fall Football Practice with first day in pads.

I grab a chair, cold liquid, camera, and wobble out to practices, to try to capture some memories for the kids.

I too will be glad when Season starts just praying my old 79 year old body will cooperate to lug my camera.

Be Well, Be Blessed,

Hope Your day is good.

Yea. Well it is 105 heat index. This 68 year old can't handle that heat anymore!

Nice shots Tom. I need to call some of my coach friends and see what they are doing. I know it is close. I need to find out if they are doing any 7 on 7 this year. Bless you also and hope you have a fine day.

This is my busy time of year. The National Women's Soccer League is in full swing, especially with the World Cup players coming back to their clubs starting this weekend, and I'll be out in the sweltering heat tomorrow to shoot the game in Maryland. Heat index of up to 115 and there's talk the game might be delayed because they aren't allowed to warm up if the temp on the field is 94 or higher. Ugh, but still going to enjoy the chance to do what I love (just with copious amounts of water while I bake in the late day heat).

There are probably adult leagues of some sports that you could go shoot in your off season. I often do that in the winter a few times just to get me through the 4 winter months until my league (and then college soccer) get going again.

Sports to start again? When did they stop? Baseball and Softball are mid season. Tennis and Golf too. Professional Soccer and Lacrosse leagues are playing. Also at the Professional level is NBA summer league. Any state where Hockey is big you can find summer tournaments. Amateur Soccer and lacrosse is easy to find too. For a change of pace there are countless running and bicycle races and triathlons. Sports never end. There is always a sport to shoot.

Supposed to cool off a bit after Sunday so maybe I can get out. if I shoot right now I have been going out and shooting local parks for Shawnee Kansas. They want to upgrade their photos they have online for all their parks, they have 33-34 for me to shoot. Just waiting to hear back if they liked what I sent in for the first park. Then we get to sit down and talk money. Actual money for my shots yeehaw!. Hang in there.

Hi Tom:
Well here in Las Vegas the summers are rough. What do I do? I am always trying to improve my craft.
I watch tutorials, practice and practice some more.
I go through my last seasons shots and look for ways to improve on the upcoming season that starts in about a month.
I go over old shots on Photoshop, use shadows/highlights, etc and work on what I shot last season. I am always looking for ways to improve.
I did shoot a wedding a month ago, but other than that, practice with the cameras, always learning.

I have a couple of football games coming up Sept. 6 Friday night, and Sept. 7th at noon. Yuk the noon starting time but I will deal with that sun overhead. Lower iso to 100 and give it a go.
Soccer will start at the end of August. I will use the Nikon 200-500 5.6 lens and get the hang of that new lens. I will use a tripod with a gimbel, the lens is heavy for this old guy.
Good luck and fill the frame.

Was just out in Jules' neck of the woods. Grandson attending the Great Western Futures Super Camp (hockey) at the Sobe Ice Arena in Las Vegas. Hockey games Monday-Thursday with lots of coaches and scouts in attendance. A bonus was that the first day one of the 'glass' partitions was broken, so had a fresh, clean sheet to shoot through.
