It would be if it weren't accomplished in a film studio located in Area 51, directed by none other than Stanley Kubrick.

Remember that this took place on the 20th. The launch was on the 16th and was a step but not unique as we had already orbited the moon twice.

Sure, but then there's also photoshop which might be responsible for the "sightings".

However, the Mars Rover caught an interesting photograph a while ago. That's got to be real.

Probably a member.

you don't think the U.S. would have been "called out" if the landinds had been a hoax? The Russian's at the very least.. And within a few years people will AGAIN be visiting the moon... taking quite a chance there.
Not to mention... YA CAN"T PHOTO SHOP A TELESCOPE ya look at it with your own eyeball.

Seriously, though, could then exist cameras and films that could function
under such low temperatures ? I wonder about video cameras and all

It's about -250 in the dark.
It's about +250 in the light.
That camera has a thermal suit of it;s own.

Great shots of a great moment. I am proud of my little piece 50 years back, contributing my 1/400,000th worth of effort to make this happen. Thanks for reminding us.

Harry, the earth can't be flat. If it were, cats would push everything off the edge.

Cat owners will appreciate this sentiment.

The answer is yes. I was part of a NASA support team that helped design purpose-built TV devices and circuitry that we tested at extreme temps, film that survived operating in a vacuum, and rough and tumble vibration on the way.

The soundstage theory is plausible except for the fact that every country in the world was listening in to the radio broadcasts from Apollo 11.
