I can't figure this out.

I have posted several times, and the posts do not appear in the daily feed. I spent over an hour yesterday creating a post of a little town that exhibits tremendous patriotism, Ten Sleep, Wyoming. But the posts did not show up in the Photo section where I put them.
I have a series of travelogues that I was going to post. But it is not worth my time to create them if they do not show up and are viewed. They include: Terra Cotta Warriors, Bejing Zoo Pandas, Great Wall of China, Li River, St Petersburg Russia, including Catherines Palace. River Cruise from Budapest to Stockholm. Others as I come across them.
So, what am I doing wrong? How do I make sure that they show up?

The emailed daily digest contains only 1/3 to 1/2 of what is posted to Photo Gallery daily. Inclusion is based in part on how many comments the topic received the day it was posted, on the timing, and with a bit of "random" tossed in. The digest changes over the 24 hours (not everyone receives the same topics) since it's a worldwide forum. There is nothing you can personally do to ensure inclusion.
Unfortunately, many UHH users rely solely on that evil digest rather than the chronological "newest topics." If it makes you feel any better, the volunteer-moderated sections are invisible to new users and to anyone who doesn't specifically subscribe to the section

As Linda ably pointed out, the daily digest is one thing, but it clearly isn't everything. Your post appeared without difficulty yesterday, and I read it and looked at the images just as I did others via the 'Newest Topics' link at the top of the page.

With all due respect Nikonbug, I took a look at your UHH posts and they go back to 2013. I am frankly baffled that you haven't figured out the photos you post may or may not make it into the daily digest. Personally, I only post my very best shots and I admit disappointment when I don't get over a 1000 hits. But it happens all the time and I know it's going to happen again. Never-the-less, I believe I will keep posting my best shots because I have nothing better to do with them.

The volunteer-moderated sections only get five slots in the digest; occasionally, since I have been PP Forum moderator there have been more than five posted in a day, so I decided to start subscribing to the digest to see which were selected for inclusion by the UHH algorithm

I saw and posted on your 10 Sleep postings.
The Digest is crap in my opinion. I haven't used it since about my third day on the forum and don't even have it set to come to me since about my second week. So that would be March 2014 since I bothered with Digest.
I sign directly into the forum and have several of the sub-forums subscribed to and thus see all the images and posts in those sections by way of "Newest Topics". You can also set your posts and those you comment on or click "watch" to come up under Watched Topics.

If you're going to post into the Photo Gallery, post between 6am and 9am in the US/Eastern timezone, post on days = Tuesday to Saturday and place only 1 entry per 24-hour cycle.

Thanks for the replies and clarifications. Especially to Paul, Linda and Caney, whose posts I always read and thoroughly enjoy. I guess I was just clueless about what went into the digest. Probably because it always takes me an hour or two first thing while I drink coffee, and never thought about there being more to see and read. I really love seeing the new photos, some really incredible, and analyzing the composition. What I may post is not intended to be great art, but particularly those people I mentioned do have great composition and their photos are more "art" than just, "I was there."
Thanks again. Once I overcome lethargy, I will post a few more of my adventures in the world. BTW, of all the foreign places I visited over the past 10 years, China was by far the most interesting. But for the United States, the far west was King!
