Every small town festival provides a location for old car enthusiasts to display their ride.

As a child of the sixties I grew up with horsepower, big V-8's and lots of torque and power, a very different approach to the horsepower race than we have today.

Here are some examples.

Nice shots and these take me back.

My brother had a Mack 1 with the Cobra jet 428 in it. It was heavy and powerful. I remember him allowing me to drive it once, telling me to back it off the road to touch the rear wheels to the gravel and drop it in 2nd gear ... then punch it. That engine roared and lit both huge tires up in a white out of smoke for about 30 feet. Then he told me to back off before the tires took hold and really propelled it forward. I'm sure this engine gave said experience to all it's owners, at their command.

Nice collection. I owned a Hudson Jet (little brother to the Hornet) in the late ‘50s but it failed me so I moved “up” to a Morris Minor convertible with rhd.
