It's going to be a species of sphinx moth. If the host plant is tomato, it won't be long before yo recognize it.

Thanks for that, I found it on an Apple Tree. I will give it some tomato leaves. An aphid crawled onto it and it was very anxious to get rid of it and twisted and turned to shake it off.

If it was on an apple tree, it likely wants apple leaves. This is a very large family and only a few species eat tomato leaves.
