Number 2 is the one I prefer.

All of these are very nice, but I'd go with the second one, personally. The framing and focus are great - sometimes the presence of branches and foreground foliage can distract from the image, especially in a competition.

I was going to say the same thing - the others are good, but there are distracting elements. But of course, one thing you will find is that the judging of photo contests is extremely subjective.

Our county fair allows only one entry per category. I have several in mind for the "Wildlife" category, and don't know which to choose. What would you choose?

Thanks!

My thought was #3 mainly because it is an unusual capture of a bald eagle with spread wings. Its quite sharp except a little blur on the beak. It has instant value because its a bald eagle.

They're all great. Number 2 is the best compositionally.

Who will be judging?

I love the second image. It shows motion and I have a special place in my heart for birds of prey. 💜💜💜

Number two is outstanding.... The others IMHO are too busy, to much going on... Number to says "Meal Time". The eagle woops be the one of the tree weren't in the way so much.

All are good. Just too much in the way in the others that is distracting...

I'm not sure about the cropping on number 2. The eyes are dead center now, and the bird is looking at us so it would not fly directly to the right but more at an angle out of the frame toward us. If you have a little to give on the left you could crop the right a touch still leaving room for flight but increase the left enough to get the eyes off center.

I say 2
3and 4 are nice but to cluttered with sticks or grass they have more of a snap shot feel
1 Great shot but I think it is way to busy , you have to guess what the subject is.
