don't crop #2, esp'ly from the right - it would move the subject to the center, rather than the more interesting off-center,dynamic image you have now

Valid point, and I thought about that as well (I tend to crop really tightly).

Another vote for not cropping #2. The bird wants to fly away with its catch, and cropping the right side leaves nowhere for that bird to fly to.
I sponsor two photography awards (and one gardening award) at the San Diego County Fair, which means I also get to be a judge (and get 40 free tickets!).

It's a tough call between number 1 and number 2. I noticed they are in need of sharpening. I downloaded number 2 and applied unsharp mask in my software. The bird is much sharper after applying unsharp mask.

Number 1 is excellent because of the lighting. The larger moose stands out in the sunlight. The stream adds to the image.

I would not enter number 3. The branches are a big problem.

I would not enter number 4. The moose blend in with the trees.

Our county fair allows only one entry per category. I have several in mind for the "Wildlife" category, and don't know which to choose. What would you choose?

Thanks!

So, you consider yourself a photographer but you need our help picking your WINNER. No thank you. You are the photographer, YOU PICK YOUR shot. I am not going to do your work. And, you do not want to know what I really think of your shots.

I agree. There needs to be space in front of the bird. No cropping.

#1 -- Good luck deciding. The better question is which one YOU think you should use.

Agree with others that #2 is the shot to submit - humbly I would recommend perhaps lightning up a touch on its right eye which is shadowed by his head

Yes, I like the second one, too. It's more dramatic. Good luck!

I like the second and third ones.
The capture and landing to grab a bite is a highlighter for me!
The third one even though there are branches in the way of the shot, it is thrilling to see a huge bird coming into the "middle" of the tree, it show maturity and skill to seek a branch to land on in the tree.
All of the photos are very neat!

I’m a photography judge at NJ photography clubs, that said, the only contender you have is the osprey with its catch.
*The other images are way to busy
*The osprey isn’t sharp but I’m sure you can bring that out
*Don’t crop to tight to the right the bird appears ready for flight and needs room to move with in the frame
*You need to lighten the left eye it’s way to dark
* add a catch light into the birds eyes

They are all super shots, but #2 is the best.
