only with gloves on, it didn't survive, may have succumbed to this:

Good find and a heroic job of trying to save it. We visited Mammoth Cave last year and the guide told us that the bat population was decimated with a disease caused by a fungus called "White Nose Syndrome" and some caves have lost as much as 95 to 100% of their population.
