Sharpen in PSE Elements

I use PSE 14 and am confused about when you would use Unsharp Mask or Adjust Sharpness in the Editor. Obviously they don’t do the same thing so one must be better for certain types of images. And yet there is a third method using High Pass filter and then applying Vivid Light effect to the layer. Your experience and advise would be appreciated.

I have found YouTube to be a great help when I am in situations like yours. Punch in your question and you will soon have the answer.
Oh, I don't know the answer to your question.

In my experience, I have rarely improved the sharpness of any photos using the "sharpen" tool in PSe.

You can use the tool to improve the quality of the noise, by making noise look more like "grain", and that is sometimes an improvement. (A certain amount of grain is pleasing to the eye, and makes the picture "look" more sharp than it really is.)

If you love taking pictures with all the filters turned off, you will occasionally get photos with way too much grain. In those cases, it is worth playing around with the "unsharp" and the various filters. The low-pass, for example, is really good at eliminating moiré patterns.

I like High=Pass filter, and overlay.
You can adjust the amount of sharpening with the opacity slider or use a mask to allow the sharpening only to certain areas.
