I certainly agree with your magical assessment. Very nice photograph and a testament to studying a scene before photographing it. Preparation is a great asset.

Bob said what I was thinking. He probably said it better than I would have.

I studied the wave patterns here for four days before attempting to go down and shoot this. The waves in Oregon are strong and if you get swept into the hole it is curtains for you. The hole is very deep and the sides are covered with mussels. The light on this afternoon was magical.

Beautiful photo

Great job! I got within about 50 feet of this in low tide last year :) Maybe this year I will approach closer.

I'd think of putting a schooner in the background. Then you would truly have a sofa picture.

...this is excellent...but I have a question for you if you don’t mind...when you say you were studying it for 4 days, were you taking photos the entire 4 days and then deciding which one you liked, or which ones you can merge together...? or is this a photo from the 4th day...?

Hi, no... I sat on top of the ridge and watched as the waves came and went at different tide levels. I watched carefully as to where the water would recede and at which angle. It is a fairly dangerous hike down to the actual hike and it is comprised of sharp lava rock. I waited for the perfect time when the tide was receding enough to still be pushing up through the hole. I returned the following morning and caught a lovely rainbow over it.

It is an excellent shot. If it were mine and using Photoshop I would go to Image>Adjustments>Match Color and click on Neutralize.
It is very possible that you like the transformation that will take place.

Hi, thank you... I am not very photoshop savvy. This works great.
