On the 4th I sat in a lawn chair by a wide, 4" deep terra cotta pot I made into a bird bath, with a couple of rocks for birds etc to stand on if they are too small for 4" of water. Mostly it gets bees and other insects with some birds perching to drink. The bees land on the rim or one of the rocks, crawl down to get a drink and then back up to take off.

Jerry, great set and DDLs show how sharp the details are.

What a great setup you made for the bees and the birds, Jerry! Beautiful shots!

Thanks very much.
I need to make a stand/pedestl for it, it is on a flat paving stone and the birds seldom go to it because my little "Yard Police" can get to it and the birds apparently don't like dog slobber in their water or being barked at. Almost all of the bees land on this rock that sticks up then climb down to the water or on the rim and climb down. They don't like the very rough flat one that barely has the high points above water with water in the low spots. The birds that do visit it mostly perch on the rim for a drink then take off. Once (no camera) I saw a butterfly land on the flat rough rock and I think it took a quick sip before leaving.
