While filling the bird feeders and water dishes this Monarch kept going around me and from plant to plant.
Went back in family room and grabbed my 5DIV which had a 24-105 L f/4 mounted.
Got a shot of the Monarch and followed it down the row of potted plants but it left over the fence.
I did find a few bees on the large pot of Purple Wood Sorrel (at least I was told that is what it is, looks like it) and took a few shots, this is one of the best.
A house I owned for 20 years had clumps of this growing all around the yard and in the flower bed by the driveway, just came up on their own and spread around. Mowing the lawn I was careful to go around it, too pretty to cut. When I sold the house and moved I dug up a large clump and put it in a pot here at this house. I keep intending on breaking it up and putting some in other pots and the flower beds. Eh, one day maybe.
Monarch: 5DIV, 24-105L f/4 mk1 @ 105 mm, 1/200 @ f/9.0, ISO 200 center point AF, Spot meter, handheld
Bee: 5DIV, 24-105L f/4 mk1 @ 105 mm, 1/400 @ f/8.0, ISO 100 center point AF, Spot meter, handheld
The plants were moving in a gentle breeze so some parts softened by movement.
Gorgeous shots, Jerry. Especially like the bee on the wood sorrel. Just beautiful!
