Thanks for sharing. I just checked using the serial number and my 2016 MacBook Pro is not under recall. Relief!
I just received notice from Apple that the battery replacement for my Mid 2015 15" Retina has been completed and I should have the computer within 2 days.
This topic was posted less than two weeks ago in the Discussion forum, I went to the linked Apple support website and entered my serial number and sure enough my computer was part of the recall. I called and spoke to support staff and they took my information and sent me a shipping box with related materials, I guess because the battery in that computer had been identified as a potential fire hazard it had to be identified on the box and shipped only by ground transport. It took a week to get there, I was notified of receipt yesterday and of repair completion today along with a 2 day shipping committment so I assume it is coming back through a different means of transport than it went up to the repair center in TN.
Anyway for any of you who have been effected by the recall this is a good overview of my experience, and I highly recommend your taking advantage of the recall not only for safety concerns but that new battery is worth about $400.
