Does anyone use Lumina 3? I saw a video on it and it looks good for a stand alone program but some of the reviews are not the best. Didn't know if some people are not fully up on using it or is there a problem with it? Thank you.

I tried it and my friend Bob tried it. Neither of us could get the program to run on our Windows 10 machines.

You may be referring to LuminaR, not Lumina.

Take a look at this video by Phil Steele. https://www.steeletraining.com/tutorials/luminar/review.html

I have Luminar 3.1, Photoshop, Lightroom, and Topaz Studio. For the money, Luminar 3.1 is tops IMHO. Topaz Studio and associated programs are really great, but $$$. You can run Luminar 3.1 as a plugin in both PS and Lightroom.

Take the free trial and give it a go.

I've been using Luminar for a year. It works great and the price is reasonable. I suggest you go to You Tube and check out Jim Nix's series of videos (there are probably close to 100) on Luminar. I think he'll convince you

I use it along with Lightroom. Lightroom is my "go-to"... but I also like certain things in Luminar 3. I particularly like the erase tool. That tool seems to me to be much easier to use than Lightroom.

It's an inexpensive program with many choices of tools to use. (Sometimes I think there are too many... but probably not.) I use it with Mac. I've heard that it's not as good with Windows... at this point-in-time.

I watched Phil Steele's video earlier and that is what got me interested but when I looked it up on Amazon I read the reviews and it is almost 50/50 from the best to locks up, won't open photos, slow, on and on against. I went to Skylum site and saw something not upfront on any review and that is required OS is I5 or above. My laptop is only I3, maybe pass on this. I did see that they just came out with an upgrade to 3.1.1. No info on that yet.

Luminar when working is a very good photo editor. Simple and easy to use, many different filters, but I only use about ten of them on regular basis. Skylum make promises, then gets under pressure to release new features, before they are ready for all users. Thus issues on some systems. Their support staff works hard to get problems resolved. Typical time to get an email response is less than 24 hrs.

I've been using Luminar for a number of years. Luminar 2018 was very good but Luminar 3 is a bit buggy. As a photo processor it has just about everything I need except maybe photo stacking. The AI features are very good but it does crash a least once a week on me. I'm using a Macbook Pro with Mojave. I've heard the windows version is even more buggy.

I would also recommend Jim Nix's youtube videos. He is very good.

I use it, and I bought it because It was a better value that LightRoom. It is very similar to me, the only bug I have is it is cumbersome in cropping, so it has made me be more careful when taking a photo. But I like it.

Don't except any support or customer service from them I had questions after questions and their reply was always the same..........send me a screen shot.
I really hate it when you need service that you can't talk to a person.

I would filter the reviews so that you are reading only version 3.1.1 .
There are many functions including the great library system that matches and mirrors the file system exactly of the computer itself that have changed including names through the iterations from 2018 to Luminar 3.1.1
As was shared try it for 30 days. I truly believe you will stick with it.

It has stalled once so far and I have used it 10 to 25 times a week ( counting photos pp'd )
Like many on any platform rebooting the machine is a good practice to follow at least every couple of days. I know of some who don't reboot until something doesn't work .not a good way to use computers.
Cropping "C" then "return" is very easy for me. Not sure what could be giving one responded problems with that particular function.

Based on earlier recommendations, from this place, I’m about two weeks into Luminar 3. On balance, I’m going to stay with it. But it wasn’t a smooth introduction. Firstly, they automatically granted me a password but then Support gave me a link to change it without knowing the old password. Then I went to Import Images and nothing happened. I got very frustrated and kept reviewing the User Guide. Then Support told me a fix but acknowledged that there was an error in the software and that they were working on it.

Yes, the cropping function is not immediately obvious. And the User Guide is not up to date.

I got very close to asking for my money to be returned but I think I will stay with it.

Still not 100% sure but, say, 85% that I will.

I use Luminar 3 by Skylum and I find it very easy to learn and use. Now I am not a professional, but I have used many different photo programs over the years and am very happy with the results I get from Luminar as a stand alone program. I normally shoot raw (both Fuji and Nikon) and Luminar provides me with very satisfactory results. For the it's price I don't think you could go wrong with it.

I am using a Nikon D750 set to record RAW & jpg. I should also add that when I first installed Luminar it went through my Pictures folder and downloaded everything; all 9,380 odd photos. I was previously using Picasa and wanted to edit the RAW files that Picasa can’t do.
