This is another in a series of posts using photos from a recent 6+ week trip I took around the Western US & Canada, with a college buddy Chuck & my Australian Shepherd Gem, aka "the Mutt." I'd like to thank all who have looked at the prior posts & commented.

In the last post (which didn't make the cut for the digest yesterday, but which you can see by clicking on https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-597640-1.html if you're interested), we were in Nebraska. This post starts with shots taken on our way to Rapid City, SD & our visit to the Badlands Nat'l Park.

On the way, we passed "Carhenge, an exhibit that was intended by the artist to be "Stonehenge West", to a Stonehenge like display using cars as the medium, along with some interesting farm country in NE & an unusual town called Scenic in SD. There wasn't much in Scenic, but I thought this one shot was interesting.

Then it was on the road to the Badlands Nat'l Park. I'd been there many years ago as a young adult, but like so many things I saw back then, they look even bigger & more striking today. We saw lots of wildlife along with some hard but beautiful landscapes.

After SD, we headed West across WY for the Grand Tetons where the wild life was even more varied. The last 2 shots of the Mutt are a bit tongue in cheek. She wants to be front & center ... in everything!!!!

PS: The photos of the Big Horn Sheep & Mtn Goat Kid were taken with a Canon 7d Mk II & an EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L II IS USM lens. The remainder of the photos were taken with a Canon 5d Mk IV & a EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens.

Alliance, NE, Carhenge (Stonehenge West) using old cars (in place of rocks) as the medium. They're not as colorful as the Cadillac Ranch in TX which is covered with graffiti

Grand Tetons Nat'l Park, while shooting the Mormon Barn at sunrise, Chuck & the Mutt started a game of fetch. When Chuck stopped, the Mutt found a new stick!!!! She wasn't done!!!!

Great description ... I'm going to have to remember & use that one!!! One of the beauties of each state, is if you look in the right places, there's always something of interest to see. I took what I regard as some neat shots of old houses as I drove through that area & the tractors & farm equipment they use, which is very impressive. Mammoth might be a better description!!!! You nailed it ... she is in fact an Aussy ... & like all herding dogs, thinks she's in charge. She was tested as a puppy & the fellow came back & told the breeder that she was very smart ... & very, very stubborn!!!! He was oh so right!!!! But I love her & she's a great companion for someone who lives back up in the sticks. And of course, she'll enjoy hearing about your calling her beautiful. Thanks for the look & comments.
