In or out of the shell, they don't seem to care.
I tried a new bird food mix that has shelled peanut halves and raisins.
This Jay approves of the new mix. It came back several times and got a peanut each time. So I guess when I fill the feeders I will add a cup of this mix to the normal seed mix.
Too far away and sun too bright/contrast too high. For the story of why I couldn't get closer see the Oriole I posted a bit ago.
80D, Tamron 150-600 G2 @ 600, 1/250 @ f/11, ISO 400 Center point AF, spot meter, fill flash (too far away-didn't balance all the bright sun contrast) aprx 60+ feet
At least the fill flash provided a nice highlight in the eye. Pretty rough plumage, maybe a juvenile? Or just out of the bird bath? Nice shot.
