Hmmmm.
At my house, whatever the air happens to be in the camera bag in the closet.
But my manual probably has something to recommend about that.

The rule I've followed for a very long time, don't leave a camera where you wouldn't leave a person or a dog. Sometimes of course, you do need to be in unpleasant places to take photos, but that isn't storage.

I built a shallow cabinet with doors in my study. It is a room where I spend a good deal of time, and if it's good enough for me it's good enough for photo gear. The house has hot air heat and central air.

Nothing is on shelves out of any cases.

I just run a dehumidifier in the basement (near my office) plus I have one of those large "moisture pellet" bags that comes in shipments in each of my camera bags.

It appears general recommendations are between 40-50% RH.

I set my dehumidifier cabinet at 40%.

My Ruggard unit is set at 50. The unit recommends 45 to 55. Each dry cabinet lists there preferences in there instruction manual.

any humidity level above 60% puts you at risk for mold, not necessarily on the camera but in the room. i think if you keep the camera in you maing living area, not in a moist basement you will be fine. same for other valuables, including TVs, stereo.

I keep all my gear in two camera bags. One bag is my camera and a few lenses. The other is a backpack with everything else. That includes memory cards, filters, macro rings, additional flashes and flash brackets.
Both are kept on a hook in my closet. As for moisture/humidity, this is the bane of all cameras and camera equipment.
I have visited my local pharmacy and asked the pharmacist to save the dessicants that come in pill bottles. The pharmacist is very obliging and doesn't charge me for a bag of them. At the beginning of the month, I replace the desiccants and throw a handful into the bag. While it won't absorb a river of moisture, I feel comfortable knowing that my bag has been waterproofed on the outside. And, it has these little plastic or cloth moisture adsorbents.

Thank goodness I live on the dry prairies. Since the 1960’s cameras have had no moisture issues.

I also live in Philadelphia. With normal air conditioning, humidity in the house has never been a problem. If I were living in Florida or some other area with humidity conditions that would warrant it, I might consider more aggressive measures, like a humidity contorted camera safe. But in Philly it just does not seem as vital.

Haha - I lived in Central Florida for 27 years. The air runs 9 months out of the year, heat runs 2 months, usually off for about 2 weeks between "seasons". Never had a problem with humidity in the house.
Now if you didn't have air conditioning.....

I lived in the tropics on a small budget many years ago and was advised to keep my camera in a metal container which had a tight lid, with silica gel. It worked just fine.
