Messing with Mother Nature

The day lilies are in full bloom and I shoot a lot of them every year.
This "abstract" was adjusted a bit with Picasa then Gimp used to distort and apply the "fractal trace" under Filters ->Map->fractal trace.

The center portion looks almost like a mermaid to me. What's your taks?

Fun to look at. I wonder if you were to pursue what you see in it, either with this piece or with new pieces, you might come up with something expressive and even more rewarding.

edrobinsonjr OK, the deed is done! Thanks for the motivation ... GIMP sure has matured from the early days when I first looked at it. Lots of tools.

My first victim is a portrait of a woman... she looks like she went bonkers when exposed to GIMP fractal.

Yup. The price is right and I have not used most of it's features.

You're welcome.

Perhaps the woman was bonkers before being exposed to GIMP's fractal...

I've not used this tool. I really love the effect in the corners. Wonderful. If the center could be reduced a bit and have the corners continue toward the center, that would really be spectacular. Like I said, though, I don't know it the program works that way since I've not used it. I enjoyed the abstract nature of what you have created.

Thank you, Erich. I intend to play around with it some more. The tool has several options that I have not explored yet.
