Thanks John, I just purchased that computer used this week on ebay to replace my Microsoft Surface, it hasn't even been delivered yet..... The Retina Monitor on that model has also had problems with delamination, the (100% feedback) seller provided repair receipt from Apple showing that they replaced the anti-glare screen with a brand new screen.
Just checked the serial number and it is eligible for repair.... Looks like I will be shipping it off to Apple.
Hang on ! I thought that Macs never gave the same sort of troubles that PCs did ?

Free replacement of the battery? What about free replacement of the MacBookPro after the battery burns up and destroys the computer?
Another example of "beautiful" Apple industrial design. Just having Apple acknowledge a serious design problem is a monumental victory.

Well there were TWO serious issues for starters.
I have just checked my spreadsheets - there seem to be just as many issues with Apples products as with Windows - in fact about the same percentages as market share although it does seem to me that an Apple problem is more serious than a Windows problem.
Mine is mid 2014 and i just had to have he battery replaced to the tune of just over $300.00

Wow. Mine just arrived today, 2015 mid year, and they are sending me a box to send it in for the replacement. You should run your serial number just to see, when I looked into this on their site I saw a replacement program that was winding down in 2016 so it certainly was not for the 2015 computers.
Again I wanted to thank you again for posting this Mike, and reprint my post from a similar thread that opened today in the "links and Resources" forum.
I just received notice from Apple that the battery replacement for my Mid 2015 15" Retina has been completed and I should have the computer within 2 days.
I went to the linked Apple support website and entered my serial number and sure enough my computer was part of the recall. I called and spoke to support staff and they took my information and sent me a shipping box with related materials, I guess because the battery in that computer had been identified as a potential fire hazard it had to be identified on the box and shipped only by ground transport. It took a week to get there, I was notified of receipt yesterday and of repair completion today along with a 2 day shipping committment so I assume it is coming back through a different means of transport than it went up to the repair center in TN.
Anyway for any of you who have been effected by the recall this is a good overview of my experience, and I highly recommend your taking advantage of the recall not only for safety concerns but that new battery is worth about $400.
