Over last weekend we spent a couple of days on Mackinac Island Michigan. It was mostly cold and rainy but was still fun. The island has no cars and everything is horse drawn except one ambulance. It has one fort that went from American to British and then back to American with almost no shots fired. The island is best known for the Grand Hotel, a luxury hotel from a years past times with that same associated elegance. On our first morning I left the hotel before breakfast to take some pictures. This wasn't photographer early but around 7 am. I was the only person on the whole main street. Just I and a seagull existed in the whole town. It was somewhat eerie but then I didn't have to wait for someone to move. Picture 1 is form the dock across the harbor with a fog lifting #2 the busy main dock in the morning.#3 Main Street at 7/15am #4 Main Street later in the day. Horses on right passing horse on left but then they had twice the horse power. #5 The grand Hotel with a taxi leaving. #6 The front porch Grand Hotel #7 Taxi stand and notice the main street clean up vehicle. #8 Lighthouse changed to B&W (personal preference) #9 Just a gate and glad I got the picture before someone thought it needed paint. # 10 The reason that trips like this are still fun
Great composition and perspective. #6 is my favorite. Thanks for sharing. We have been considering going there and you have strengthened that desire.
Very nice set. Also makes me want to be there.
I'm glad you enjoyed one of our Michigan treasures. A place time has forgotten.
Nice series that reminds me of the good time we had there on our visit several years ago.
