I have an opportunity to attend a night sky photo shoot with Tamron in Yellowstone NP. Anyone attend one of these seminars? Any good? Worthwhile? Worth the money?Of course all of their lenses will be available for use. Thanks, Gary

I attended a lecture here in Miami and their lenses were available although we did not do any shooting. The speaker was knowledgeable and showed us many beautiful images from different lenses. He talked about techniques and we all had a great time.
I am sure you will have a great time also and learn a few things in the process.

amron lenses arevery good. Their reps who I have met over the years are pretty good photographers, too. I've attended in-store presentations and in field workshops.

Any time you get the chance to actually use the lenses on your own body and have the images for your review, you can best decide which lens(es) are best for you. GO! TRY! LEARN. Best excuse I've heard to go to Yellowstone--a trip of a lifetime, in my book.

I attended the Tamron night workshop at Rocky Mountain National Park last summer. Very enjoyable time with knowledgeable people. Quick pace, lots of sites to setup in, little sleep......

Thank you photocraig. This will be my 5th trip to Yellowstone, it is never the same. I have never had good enough weather to shoot the night sky, so I never have made an attempt. I own and will try my Canon lenses on a 6D, 17-40 F4L and 24-70 F2.8L, and their equivalents and compare. Hopefully I will get lucky. Gary

hpucker99, Thanks for the feedback. Talk about crazy, the workshop only includes one night (extra cost) in Yellowstone only, no other rooms available anywhere that I could find. So flying into Billings the day before the workshop, driving and staying one night in Cooke City the day before, the workshop and with little sleep, then drive to Billings the second day after the editing workshop, then early next morning back to Florida. Sleep ,ust be overrated. Gary

I was lucky. We had our camper in Estes Park, a few miles away. I ended up getting a motel room at the YMCA of the Rockies where the seminar was held. Only got about 3 hours of sleep but I could walk from the room to the seminar the next morning.

I went to a Tamron workshop at the Roger Williams Zoo. I found it informative and useful. Unfortunately, because I have a micro 4/3s and Tamron only makes one micro 4/3s lens which I already have, I wasn’t able to take advantage of borrowing lenses. If you have a Canon or Nikon, I’d definitely recommend their workshop.

The last time we visited Yellowstone we based out of Bozeman, about 80 miles, and commuted into the park. it was much more reasonably priced for a room (less than $100). Livingston is also close to the park (close being a relative Montana term). Bozeman has a commercial airport and you should be able to fly in/out of there. From the west Idaho Falls has commercial air traffic as well. If I were coming from Florida, I would get to Bozeman/ Livingston a day early and then drive into the park and stay a night after. Plenty more to see than just the 24hrs in the park will allow you to see.
