New to list, old cat at photography, and underwater/in-water camera question

HI I recently joined the forum, am old (73) and old at photography (e.g. Agfa Clack, Agfa Suoer Silette, Zeis Contaflex, several other small cameras the Minolta X700 with 50mm 1.4 and a Soligor 85mm portrait macro lens (I loved it but it got stolen from home), via small Nikon digital to D40 and small underwater videocamera (stolen on street in Madrid) then D3200 . Lenses at present the 18-55 VR kit lens, 70-300 VR Dx, Tamron 18-200. Bought 50 mm 1.8 Nikkor (manual focus with problems of depth of field for my camera, it works autofocus on my son's D90) and therefore after long pondering between wide angle, an APS-C 50 or 35 mm 1.8 but also wanting a macro lens, acquired the Nikkor APCS 40 mm 2.8 Micor, and starting to play with it. I also learned appreciated some input about fast shots and settings from this site and am pleased with recent picture with my 70-300 and Rogue flash enlargement attachment for my 300 mm tele pictures (I have not yet tried to post pictures). I have minimal experience in afterproduction of pictures - dont have the patience nor time. As weight and space play role, I dont anticipate upgrading to a FX, have been wondering if it worth spending money on a upgraded DX camera body. Used to the LowePro backpack slings so as not to have to take backpack off, but recenly other (nonphotography back pack with the Peak clips (to backpack) and lens holder to belt and enjoyed that as opposed to carrying straps (no not the original Nikon factory straps :)
Planning Safari trip next year, and not sure if I need more glass or camera bodies: switching of lenses still takes too long - maybe two bodies with different lenses is better than one.
I have enjoyed comments - some of the questions asked by others were easy for me, in other cases I admired the experience of others.
My direct question: a few years ago we were in Galapagos and I used my cell phone in a waterpack -not wanting to buy Nikonos) - not as good as other's waterproof (or resistant :) ) small cameras. We are planning to watch whales in Baja next spring and I wonder if you have recommendations for watercamera . I would hate to get my regular stuff wet - would I even take it? Probably yes but not in the boaat?

I quickly researched, watched tutorials and saw there is also a newer version TG-6. Beside visibility of screen not much difference ?
I will have to get it into my hands for inspection and try-out.

Welcome to the UHH. I echo PixelStan. Olympus TG6. I have one on pre-order. Almost purpose built for underwater but a really good knockabout every day carry camera as well. My only wish is that it had more then the 12MP sensor. But I have and still shoot a Nikon D200 with "only" 10.2MP and never wished for more until I bought a D500. TG-5 is a great little camera and TG-6 is even better.
