What is your point? Do what? Take pictures and just print a sell? (I'v done that but not usually)

Post processing a digital image brings out its potential, justifying the involved effort.

Post processing jpegs is a pain in the ass. The one good thing about film was that post processing was not an option for all but the pros. Processing raw images is an even bigger pain in the ass as well as a greater time waster. If I'm the only one on the planet that feels this way, so be it.

Do you like sitting and post processing?
I have a Fuji camera and most of the time shoot jpeg. With my infrared camera I shoot raw.

Speed, practicality for simple adjustment in PhotoShop, smaller files for emailing - printing up to 8"x10" suggests JPEG.
For special attention, large printing and increased sharpnes, RAW would be my choice.
I shoot both.

Only pros post processed film? You are wrong. There were, and still are some amateurs who processed and printed their own film in a darkroom. It is an important part of getting the best out of film photography, if you didn't want to use an expensive custom lab.

Post processing a jpeg to an 8x10? Here's a jpeg that would make a nice 40x60. It was P.P.d using the free version of Fotor. Would a raw image have looked better? Use double download.

How about an analogy:

You want a hamburger -- a really good one. You have two choices:

1) Start from scratch with the basic ingredients: Ground beef, bun of your choice, fresh onion red or white, tomato that you selected, condiments of your choice, charcoal grill or seared in bacon fat or both, etc. And when you're finished you have the perfect hamburger.

2) Buy a Big Mac and see if you can fix it.

Imagine a chef's school and the class beginning the day's lesson on how to make a hamburger. The instructor says, "Start by unboxing your Big Mac and remove the bun, next......

What can be accomplished in raw is truly amazing. Almost 90% of anything you would want to do can be done and raw. By pressing k you can get into advanced RAW tools seldom necessary but they come in handy sometimes when you’re desperate

RAW gives you more latitude in the changes you would like to make.

If you shoot in JPEG and edit that photo be sure to use the "Save As" feature in your File menu. Change the name of the file. I usually just add an "A" to it. By using "Save As" you do not change the original JPEG file.

I shoot nothing but JPEG. And I post process with photoshop and lightroom. I create 16X24 show prints. My prints sell well. I have no issues. My exposures are usually spot on so changes in exposure in photoshop is a non issue. As far as color balance, I shoot outside with the sun behind me. Again, no issues with color balance.
Now some folks love RAW, shoot nothing but RAW. And the RAW folks love there results. And, so do I in using JPEG.

Did I tell you that I love ya 😉

Well, the fast food places depend on people with low standards.
