...I've been shoeing horses for 42 years and still going strong...

I envy you! Thanks for the info.

Finally sold my 200# anvil and tools five years ago when moving into this retirement facility. Never did move completely away from blacksmithing. However did quit horseshoeing after high school and the military but continued to enjoy an ornamental iron work hobby.

Thanks....most folks never get to see this process taking place. It is quite interesting and the horse was cooperative I noticed.

I really liked these! I've got to remember to head over to my daughter's farm next time the farrier visits - what a great photo op!

Thanks for the visit Sue. This is an interesting process and worth documenting I believe. It's probably quite different from the way things were done a 100 years ago in terms of set up. Certainly the well equipped trucks have made the job easier. Also there are schools and certification programs to make sure the farriers have the right knowledge and skill level.

Very nice group Vickie. I like the horse looking back in the last shot like "are you finished YET???"

I'm glad you enjoyed these TBerwick. This is a very curious horse who always has to see what's going on. He's not afraid of very many things.

Looks like you got it covered. Beautiful big thoroughbred, like about 17 hands. My son-in-law is a ferrier in Wheatland, WY. These guys really earn their fees. Back breaking work, but honest. This is when it is a pleasure to be called "Cowboy". You did these guys justice, nice pics.

Many thanks for the thoughtful reply Bill. My grandfather was a true cowboy, but he died in his mid eighties when I was 4. Sadly, I never really knew him or got to hear his stories.

What do you do when you have a camera at your disposal and you're waiting for your horse to get new shoes? The answer was clear to me.

Lovely horse and good captures.

Nice series. Why three people for a trim and set of hot shoes? I have a single farrier do my horses.

I did that once. I loved the "under the belly" shots. Nicely done!
