This car was photographed last fall on Route 113 in an area known as Evan's Notch in the White Mountains of Western Maine. This particular stretch of Route 113 between Gilead and Fryeburg is a two way road only in the strictest academic sense; it is not plowed in the winter.

I want it!

A late model C1 Vette that looks more or less original, the owner should ditch the aftermarket wheels and replace with originals. This one would find lots of bidders at a top notch auction, however, the most widely favored standard Vette is the ‘63 split window coupe.

Nice photo.

1961 was the year they changed the design of the rear end. 1960 was the last year for the design in the photo.
I wasn't all that familiar with Corvettes so I didn't know about the rear end change in 1961. Googling images of Vettes from 1958 to 1962 I prefer the treatment of the rear-end design of the pre-1961 Vettes.

I have ridden 113 several times on my motorcycle. It is barely wide enough for two bikes passing in opposite directions, in places. I hope the owner was fully insured!

Yes, it is a two lane road only in the strictest academic sense.

That is a beautiful 1st gen Corvette, and a wonderful image!!! One of the nicest looking C1's I have ever seen. Would make for a great large print.

Is this your's Rob? If not, I'm sure the owner would love a print.

No, Bill, sadly, it isn't my car. Actually, if I had my choice of muscle cars, I would go with a 1967 Pontiac GTO or an Oldsmobile 442.

Love this style, but also the few years (1966?) that had no side scoop. I am not fond of the later busy body lines.

Yes, 1968, I think it was, saw a radical change in the Corvette.

Great shot, Rob. That Corvette would be a 1960 or earlier and it's the car that made me a car buff. As for Rt. 113, the last time I was up there I saw some stunning foliage but no "Vettes.

Thank you, Dennis; yes, I couldn't resist taking photos when the couple pulled up in this. My wife and I had a great talk with them.

Yes, nice photo, Rob.
It looks like it could be up to a 1962 Corvette. 1963 and later they had those ugly Stingrays.

Thank you very much, EdJ0307; I appreciate it.

I still kick myself for not buying one used in 2001 as my 60th birthday present to myself. Instead, I bought a used BMW Z3, which I kept for 15 years, but I still salivate over the '61 and '62 'Vettes. Kid of like the girl you dated but didn't marry.
