I am using a Canon T2I. I save the photos on a Samsung pad, which also allows some PP work. The mini chips lend themselves to this.
This is also the way I communicate with UHH and others.
When the photos are transfered to the pad they also go to a phone and one of those sites in space for backup.
The location is on in my pad, and it knows my movements and location.
Now.
After transfer the location is frequently(depending on location, towers ??) to then be found on the tablet maps along with the photo data.
I have not found an answer to this question.
Does this camera contain GPS capibility?
If not, how is this happening?
Now I need to see if this happens with my 5D And 1000D.
Thanks, any and all.

Your camera manuals and/or specifications should show wether they have GPS capability or not.
Your Samsung pad may have GPS capability, if it is turned on, (I don't own one) and it may append the data to your photographs.
Check your Samsung manual.

No on the GPS in the camera. Yes to the pad. With no action from me but to put the chip from camera to pad for storage and download, the info on location is imbedded into the pad with the photo specs. The chip theoretically does not have this from the camera. There are programs available for this but I have not loaded one. I cannot figure how the devises are communicating. This is unreliable, because it does not happen 100% of the time, to complicate matters.

I try to remember to turn my location off on my phone and prefer to use photos of location signs instead to remind me of where I was. Awhile ago I read that you shouldn't post pics that have the GPS location imbedded because of possible peepers looking for victims. But the most annoying effect I've gotten is that when my GPS is on I get these messages asking me to rate a location I was just at or even just walked by. D-n Samsung and Google!

But there still is the question of how my camera seems to know the location and it has no GPS. When I am home I transfer the pictures and I still get the location of the shot. The pad rarely leaves home, only the camera, so it cannot have the info until downloaded. To make things more complicated, there is no storage chip in the phone, only the pad. I have a notepad( one of those old fashion paper ones) that is a sort of diary. It has notes on what, when, where and the like just to jog the memory, so the electronic notes are redundant. New species notes go in the appropriate field guide. My life lists.
Thanks for the input.
