This is a Guinea Fowl I took at the Lowrey Park Zoo in Tampa.

There are four species, that is one of them.

Definitely Guinea fowl. They can be quite the wanderers. Excellent for tick control as well!

Thanks again, to all of you! I appreciate the help and I have learned a lot about Guinea Hens today. I'm guess these maybe were lost by my neighbor but a lot of people around here keep strange things in their backyards so it is hard to tell.

In Western Kentucky we called them Guinea Hens. The second farm down the road (about 3/4 mile) the wife kept a small flock of them along with her chickens, ducks and geese (she liked barnyard fowl). You could often see them along the little two lane country road hunting for bugs and stuff, esp after the county road people came by with the big mowers to clear off the road shoulders once a month.

Your picture is of the male. The picture in question is of females.

I have a cousin in W.Va. that has a small flock of Guinea Fowl. They roam during the day and come home at night. Quite a site to see.

It's a Guinea Fowl/Hen, Carol. People sometimes keep them for their eggs (which are just like hens' eggs) or just as pets.

Thank you, Earl. I don't want any but it was interesting to see them and find out what they are.

This is a poor quality shot but I was in a vehicle when we encountered a flock of wild turkeys half a block from our house. Along with the turkeys there were two or three of the birds shown below. They were about the size of a large chicken and the body shape reminded me of grouse or quail. I have never seen anything like them as far as I can recall. They were very shy and I couldn't get out of the vehicle without spooking them. The whole flock had gone over this gate and then proceeded to come back onto the road and move on.

Some type of Guinea Fowl I would guess given it's girth and approximate size characteristics that resemble that species.

Merry, I think the wild turkeys hang around because they hear our neighbor's turkeys. These Guineas apparently decided that they were better off flocking together with the turkeys.
