So Many Cleats & Bollards For Big Ships, But No Big Ships anymore

These photos were taken at Green Cove Springs, FL using Canon 6DII. The first with Canon 24-105 f4L and second with 70-300 f4-5.6 IS II.

In 1947 the US Navy built 13 concrete piers each more than 1/4 mile long to house part of the mothball fleet after WW-II. The docks were home to some 600 ships, but by 1963 the ships were all gone. All 13 docks (like the one pictured) have been slowly decaying over the last 50 years and see very little current use and no maintenance.

Looks like only one pier is used for larger pleasure craft.

the Shot with the 24-105 is I think the better of the two. more contrast.

I didn't, I looked up the location on Google Maps.
I like to have an idea where locations that are not near me are located, and what might be around them.
