I was going through some old photos and playing with the new Texture slider included in the latest Lightroom Classic update. I was blown away by the improvement in this photo of the Grand Canyon that I had taken. It was already what I humbly thought was a fairly decent photo. I put the new Texture to 100% and the photo really popped while I was looking at it in LR. I exported a full-size JPG of it to a folder then installed the photo as my wallpaper on my brand new 1-month-old iMac. The photo almost looks like it is 3D. Not sure how big I can post on the site but I hope it will be big enough so everyone can see what I am seeing.

I added the original (second) photo without the texture slider changes to compare. The change is slight but when viewed full screen at 21 inches it makes a huge difference on my screen. The smoke on the horizon was a forest fire. It was a cool fall day. Only day there. My main lens, a Nikkor 18-200, chose that day to break with no warning. The spring for the iris broke. I was going nuts as to why all my shots had totally screwed up exposures for a while until I figured out what was happening. I had to shoot everything with my remaining lens a Nikkor 12-24 wide angle. Loved the results.

Very nice photo. 20MB is the largest file that you can post on the HOG.

Yes, not much difference, just a slight one. I think I'd bring out some of the detail in the shadows, just slightly.......I like man looking over the cliff.

I did lighten that area already with the brush tool. I liked the contrast between dark and light so left it that way. it was very very dark before.

Thanks for the comment though. Nice to know people look.

The texture slider was added in the latest update. About two weeks ago. I subscribe to Creative Cloud so get all the updates as part of the subscription. You need version 8.? It is available in the mobile version and the CC desktop version too.

I like the mobile version on both my iPad and iPhone. Can shoot in RAW/DNG and it gets shared to the others. Good for those times I don't want to lug the big SLR around. All the adjust tools are there. I can share easily during trips as long as I have wifi. They are all there when I get home.

In the downloads, it looks like the Texture slider just adds a bit of grain (looking at the blue sky).

The texture slider does add a little grain to the image, but for this shot it is worth it.

I just downloaded the update and see that this new slider is in addition to the Clarity slider. I think it's a nice addition to LR and ACR.

If you would like to see the differences in Clarity slider and Texture slider watch this instructional video. It shows how they work very well.

I have LR CC on a desktop but did not have the Texture slider. My "Presence" section only has Clarity, Vibrance, and Saturation. I thought I was up to date in updates, but I've got one running now.

Some months ago I discovered the "Dehaze" slider (down at the bottom in the "Effects" group) and was awed at what it could do. I see from the notes about the new changes that the "Dehaze" has been moved up into the "Presence" section. What does the Texture slider do that the Dehaze does not?

Well, the update ran and I still don't have a "Texture" slider. My version is "CC 2015.10.1 [1117803]. Apparently I can't get that while running Win7Pro.
