Spot Metering with F2 button Nikon D7500 is not offered. F1 you can get center weighted or spot metering, but i like the spot feature on the F2 button????

My 7100 has a dedicated metering mode button on the top panel. Since I got used to it, I found it very easy to use.

The D7500 doen't have the dedicated metering mode button. Nikon has added an ISO button behind the shutter button on the D5, D500, D850, and D7500 instead. The D5, D500, and D850 have the metering mode button in the group of buttons on the top left side of the camera.

On my D500, I assigned My Menu to the Fn2 button. I then loaded My Menu with frequently used functions. I think spot metering is not one that can be loaded on the My Menu list. Center weighted and matrix metering can be on the list.
On the D7500, I'm not sure what shortcut can be used for spot metering besides the Fn1 button. The video record button and be re-programmed on my D500. You might be able to assign spot metering to it.

With a firmware update Nikon could add the Spot metering option for the F2 button
I have F1 as Spot and The level indicator at F2. Is there a reason F1 doesn't work for you? I agree that it would be nice if all buttons were mappable to all things, but ... they aren't. So, when there is something useful like that I practice with it until it feels more natural.

May I ask how that button helps you?

The button is very easy to find, even when I’m looking through the viewfinder. I can quickly scroll through the metering mode choices without removing my eye.

Thanks, Andy, but how does it benefit you? Why would you want to change the metering mode mid shot.

I was shooting photos of my grandson dirt bike racing yesterday, in changing light and in spot mode. At 300 mm, with shutter priority, I realized I was having trouble keeping the exposure spot on a middle tone, so I switched to center weighted.
Normally I would have plenty of time to adjust, but I was burst shooting and trying to capture him getting some air during changeable light conditions.
I have always found it helpful, since switching to digital, to have functions assigned to convenient buttons, and practice enough that I don’t have to think.

If more people would complain to Nikon they may do a firmware update.
Keep calling them. The current F2 is useless if you have center weighted on F1.
I was able to set up the f1 button on my d7500 for jpg fine+raw and f2 for spot metering. But you need to hold f2 in while shooting to get spot metering.
