I'm in the grove now and grinding out one good hummingbird photo after another. I got quite a few today. Below is one of them. I'll post more when I get around to post processing them.

My favorite photo in your series so far. These little guys are frustrating to shoot, but great fun. Always have to be prepared for lots of culls.

Yep, I find about only one in 25 or so are keepers, but I shoot in rapid fire bursts of about three or four. It's fun to see how they react to the bursts of light. After a while they become accustomed to the flash, twitch but keep on drinking the nectar bait that I provide for them. I have "trained" mine to drink directly from a small plastic tube that is easy to remove using PhotoShop. I should post at least one photo that includes the bait tube with their beak sipping the nectar from it.

These are very nice. I saw your photos of your set-up yesterday. Do you use a very reduced flash power to accomplish a short duration of flash to freeze the wing motion?

I'm not against the use of PS when needed. I just think my technique yields better, more believable, results.

Yes, 1/128 power was used in these photos, but 1/32 power will also work.
