This morning I was thinking about the newer tools being offered on Photoshop and decided to revisit an image I worked on in 2014. While 2 new tools made a noticeable impact on the image most of the improvement is 5 years more experience with the program and 5 years more exposure to Hoggers that know what they’re talking about. For this image the plateau on the left and the distant hills on the right were both singled out by masking to see what could be done to improve them visibly. First tool used was the dehaze which wasn’t available until mid-2015. That gave them some color separation, then the new texture tool was used, BINGO! There is now some contrast/texture. Those areas are now more than just dark spots without interest. Both of those tools when used with care can be a great help in post.
Learning curve wise the color is now better and the sky which was hot and cold is now even. Those fixes can be attributed to the Ugly Hedge Hog hang out.
A great message, Rich - thank you for sharing your positive thoughts! Appreciate your describing your workflow also.
The view is really lovely; how perfect to have that one puffy cloud in the deep blue sky.

Thank you Linda. If I recall, I could hear Johnny Ray singing one of his songs when I saw that cloud. But then
if you know the song, your Grandmother would have sung it to you.

I have a few memories of the young Elvis; otherwise, my music interests began with the Beatles in 1964

LOL
I thought it (the Little White Cloud that Cried) was before your time. A major hit in 1951

Thank you for old memories, Rich1939. (Maybe I should call myself Guy1937.) I had to go on YouTube and listen one more time.

The good old days!
FYI, I looked the song up last night and it was rated #2 in 1951 behind the flip side song "Cry".
Johnny Ray was "different" but certainly talented.
I thoroughly enjoyed your photo and your insights.

Thank you Bob, appreciate it.
Enjoyed your image Rich. Very interesting how the road curves right around and leads to the lake. I enjoyed the crack in the road too. Bev

Thank you Bev, I'm glad you liked it. Shhh don't tell any one, the road turns to the right again. When I positioned the camera to capture the full curve it showed and I didn't care for the look.

I won't ever tell anyone, it's the photographer's prerogative to include and/or exclude....it's called creativity. Well seen. Bev
Certainly worked good, great picture...
