Z6 Raw Files

My Z6 RAW files have a distinctive magenta bias. I need to set the tint slider to -52 in Lightroom to compensate. I found that out by using the white balance eye dropper on a number of images.

I know I can apply a preset on import to correct for it. But I am wondering if there is a way to set something in camera to adjust? I don’t believe the picture control settings affect RAW files. I can’t find anything in the manual to help.

Are you sure it's not your monitor? Your Zion post was decidedly red. Are you saying those images didn't include this correction? Should you just contact Nikon?

I found this: https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/white-balance-issue-color-cast-with-nikon-z-6-raw-file.html

So it is an Adobe problem. I am not keen on going through that exercise, and wonder why I need to since I only recently downloaded the subscription Lightroom Classic, which has the new ACR. Perhaps even though I have the new system the old folders that were processed before the new Lightroom still have the residual profiles?

I’ll try a few updated images processed in the new classic.

Are you sure it's a RAW file issue and not a color balance setting in your camera that got inadvertently set towards magenta???

Looks like a valid solution. You just put the files where they belong and move in.

Right. I just found the needed correction. I just adjusted the Zion images with that correction. I had tried to correct it with white balance (not eyedropper) and reducing saturation. Not good enough.

The Zion images were some of those I (just) applied the eyedropper to. I applied the eyedropper to the white clouds in those that had them. The posted images were before I figured that out.

Since I bought into the subscription program a few days ago, and it has the latest ACR, I shouldn’t have the issue in the future. I was able to correct my older images with a -52 tint adjustment.

At least this gave me another reason to buy into the subscription program.

Shoot a grey card and analyze it.

If it truely is that problem and you don't find another good solution, why not just do a batch color correction? That should be a very quick correction.

I would think Lightroom has that ability. (I don't use LR)

One more possible. You might have your post program set to correct for another camera. A simple change would solve that.

Yes, Lightroom has synch. I am going through the folders since I bought the camera and correcting all the dng images. It required a -52 tint. I found that by using the eyedropper on a number of images.

The problem was Adobe's treatment of the Z6 RAW files, as per the link I posted above. It is fixed in the subscription version of Lightroom. But I had been using Lightroom 6 and DNG converter up till a few days ago.

No need. The cause of the problem has been found and it is corrected in the new software.
